The Hitchhiker was a mystery anthology series that ran on cable tv from 1983-1991 – first on HBO, then on USA Networks. Willem Dafoe appeared in episode 16 – “Ghostwriter” – which first aired on January 7, 1986. The series was also referred to as Deadly Nightmares (in the UK) and Le Voyageur (in France).
