Dear Friends,

After an exciting run of LA DIDONE here in the city,
THE WOOSTER GROUP is settling back into The Performing Garage and working on Tennessee Williams' VIEUX CARRÉ.

We are also turning our attention toward giving back to the community through our
Garage Works, which consists of three exciting programs:
  • First is the Summer Institute, where Group members, led by Kate Valk, direct a diverse mix of the city's public high school students in a three-week program culminating in performances at the Garage. The Summer Institute, now in its twelfth year, is free, and serves kids mostly from low-income families. Building on the kids' excitement over last year's use of Greek myth and fight choreography, this year we'll work with Brazilian myth and Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial art performed to music.
  • Second is our In-School Program. For the last thirteen years, the Group has been visiting public schools to work with students on everything from theatrical performance to persuasive speaking. For the last two years, our students at MS131 have taken first place in a citywide public speaking tournament!
  • Third is our Visiting Artists Series, where we share one of our greatest resources, The Performing Garage, to provide affordable work space to other experimental theater companies. Richard Maxwell and the New York City Players and The Nature Theater of Oklahoma are some of the exciting artists we've had a chance to bring into the Garage this year.
These great programs cannot exist without your support.

As the newest addition to The Wooster Group, I am thrilled to seek your help in breathing financial life into the Garage Works programs. We ask you to contribute by clicking here!

Sincerely,

Jamie Poskin
Operations Manager
